From the Mists I - Elk - 18x24 - Digital Painting - 2021

One of the things I love about being an artist is the continuous experimentation. I'm a 'Jack of all Trades' type of artist who enjoys dabbling in a myriad of mediums, but digital art is where I spend most of my time. Like any medium, I'm handed a set of tools. Each tool has its purpose and limitations. The experimentation comes from combining tools so that together I can create something that I could not have before.

This is the second in a style I've recently developed that combines several techniques and programs. This is the first in a series of pieces dedicated to wildlife. This is From the Mists I - Elk.

I have a deep rooted love of animals. I've had tons of pets, spent tons of time in nature, love visiting zoos, and often contemplate the relationship humanity has with its primal roots and evolutionary aspirations - if we are animals, we are so by choice. Aside from the heady stuff, I just marvel at the diversity and adaptation and majesty and presence of the wildlife that surrounds me in Montana.
