Angel of the Mist - 18x24 - Digital Painting - 2021

I actually painted this figure once with acrylic paints and brushes, cuz I can do that too. Unfortunately, I don't really think I'm all that good with paint and a brush. I feel very limited by the setup, costs, drying times, cleaning up. I find freedom in a digital space where I can start something, make some progress, forget about it for six months, and then come back with fresh eyes and revitalized energy. I have greater control and the freedom to make several iterations. This one had eight before I was finally happy.

So... what is it? I've often struggled with concepts like angels and demons. Tried to wrap my head around it. Perfect people with wings and halos. Snarling beasts with cloven feet. Flawed first creation of the Creator. Guardians and traveling companions. Corruption. They are fascinating. They are so many things mystical and yet nothing solid. A mist that clouds the mind or sets it free.
