Sometimes my art tells a story about me. No more so than with this piece. This, believe it or not, is sort of a fantasy of mine. You see, when I was 15 my mother passed away. It's a long story, but, in my youthful idiocy, I said some very hateful things to a person not strong enough to endure. The straw that broke the proverbial camel's back. Anyway, the circumstances of her final resting place became a hotly contested issue between an ex-husband who really kind of hated her, and a family that had abused and abandoned her. Who would pay for the coffin? Who would pay for the cremation? Who would pay for a burial plot? Important stuff like that. Ultimately someone paid the tab, but while the debate raged as to where the ashes should rest I lost favor and eventually lost touch with my family. My father never told me where. My brothers have always blamed me for her death and also won't tell me. So now I have a fantasy of being able to stand at what is presumably an unmarked grave (headstones ain't free) and apologize for my part in the pain inflicted upon her in this life.
