The Monster, I - 18x24 - Digital Painting - 2009

I'm a bit of a cinephile (that's one of the good philes, btw). Not my fault. I was kinda raised by a would-be Hollywood big-shot. Another long story. Anyway... of all the monsters in film history, my personal favorite is Frankenstein's Monster. Why? He's not a monster. He wasn't in charge of his creation. He didn't ask for it. It's not his fault that he was thrust into a world that vilified him simply because of the circumstances of his existence. And while here, in a very ugly world, he seeks out and appreciates the simple beauty that is all around and ignored by so many. There are some obvious alegorical ties to the life of an artist, so, for only the second time, self portrait, kinda.
